It was a long but wonderful week at this years Summer Camp. First year campers went through the T-2-1 program and learned about knot work, fire lighting, knife and axe safety and more. Other campers worked on various merit badges ranging from Art and Sculpture to Forestry and Rifle Shooting.
During meals in the dining hall, it seemed like some of the staff wanted to pick on our troop. We ended up with the Gizmo game piece 4 times throughout the week (for those not familiar with the Gizmo, it is a game piece that is slipped onto your uniform and when the time comes and you have it, you are called upon to answer a trivia question in front of everybody. If you get the question wrong, you have to kiss the stuffed animal head of the day. But if you get it right, then you get to pick a staff member to kiss the animal head for you). Of course, it was Steven and Tate from our own troop that were on staff at camp that was picking on us. 3 out of the 4 times we had to kiss the animal of the day (Michael, Aydan and Enzi), but Walter got his question correct and picked Steven to kiss the moose.
On Tuesday, our troop won the retreat banner, which means that we got to raise and lower the camp flag on Wednesday (Parent’s night). This was a big honor for us.
Over the course of the week, there were competitions for archery, shotgun shooting and rifle shooting. Troop 155 did well in these competitions with Walter winning first place in the Archery for the second year in the row and Mr. Wagner winning Archery for the adults (Mr. Purchase tied for third place). Congratulations to them all!
