Austin wants to thank everyone who came out today to help him. There was a great showing of support from his Troop and friends from school that helped complete Phase 1 of his project ahead of schedule.
Today, about 14 participated under Austin’s leadership to dig out a 6′ X 20′ X 7″ hole to build a cement pad for the Kindergarten and First Graders at Preston Elem. to stand on before school. This allows them to avoid standing on the grass or mud and getting all dirty. In addition to directing and leading others for digging, leveling, measuring, smoothing, tamping, he also directed half of his crew to hauling the displaced dirt, spreading in low areas, leveling, and smoothing for grass seed to be put down.
After tonight, the area will be completely ready for cement to be delivered, hauled, poured, and finished of Friday.
I think everyone went home with a full belly, sore arms and legs, and a great sense of accomplishment for the community service they provided today.
